Welcome to the Community Arts Preschool afternoon four-year-old program. This program differs from the morning four-year-old program in that it meets four days a week, giving students an opportunity to do more with the consecutive days. They will also interact with the Pre-K class in certain activities as well as playground times.

Using the age-appropriate Creative Curriculum, we prepare children for their journey into elementary school and help them become independent and feel they are an important part of our community. We provide opportunities in the areas of art, music, science, dramatic play, as well as exposure to pre-math and pre-reading skills. We feel that when children are comfortable socially, learning comes more naturally.

Throughout the year, teachers help the children learn to negotiate their way through conflicts, help with verbal communication when needed, help them to make good choices and communicate with their peers as they interact with each other.

Learning comes best through a relaxed environment and through child’s play. Puzzles, dramatic play, tactile tables, invention centers and manipulatives are always available during free exploration times. We give the children opportunities to choose from a variety of activities planned around a focus of the week, including open-ended art, small motor development, and problem solving.

We expose the children to a variety of experiences through field trips.
We have a fabulous playground for large motor activities, or on the rainy days, we have access to a large indoor space, which we also use for Music and Movement twice a month.

We encourage family participation as well as support parents and guardians by hosting parent education classes, opportunities for hearing, vision, and speech screening at school through an independent service. We provide families with opportunities to get involved in community charities, including the Make-A-Wish foundation annual penny drive and monthly donations to help families in need through the Neighborhood House Organization.

Come join our family at Community Arts Preschool!
