Children learn best when they are comfortable and confident in themselves and their surroundings. Our focus is on providing activities and learning experiences through art, music, science, dramatic play and socialization for children who are three, turning four, throughout the school year.
We encourage family participation, and provide opportunities for families to get involved in the classroom, if they wish.
We support parents/guardians by hosting parent education classes, providing opportunities for hearing, vision, and speech screening at school through an independent service, and by providing information on community services.
Children have opportunities to choose and learn from a variety of planned art activities including painting, gluing, cutting and manipulative materials. There are always dramatic play opportunities as well.
We have themes throughout the year, from Seasons to Your Senses. Sharing Time allows children to show or tell about something special to them. Puzzles, dramatic play areas, tactile tables, an invention center, and manipulatives are always available during free exploration times.
Children start learning to negotiate and communicate with their peers as they interact with each other. Community Arts teachers help children through conflicts and with verbal communication when needed, guiding them in making good choices. Children learn to care for each other and their school.
Our playground is a creative space for large motor activities. On especially wet weather days, we use an inside play area.
Our school also provides children and their families opportunities to get involved in community charity help. We participate in the Make-A-Wish Foundation penny drive and collect monthly donations for families through the Neighborhood House Organization.
